FATAL SHOOTING IN GRIMES CO. UNDER INVESTIGATION

  

Grimes County officials are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday.

According to the Navasota Examiner, one person is in custody and is cooperating with authorities in connection to the shooting, which was reported around 5 p.m. on County Road 173, in the Iola area.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office says the scene has been contained, and that it is investigating along with the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Rangers.  It says there is no ongoing threat to the public.

While the sheriff’s office has not shared details surrounding the shooting, it says it will issue an official release with additional information as the investigation progresses.
