BRENHAM ISD EXPANDS COATS FOR CUBS INTO CUBS UNITED DAY
Brenham ISD is preparing to host a community resource event for district students and families.
Cubs United Day, formerly known as Coats for Cubs, will take place on Friday, October 9th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brenham ISD Administration Office, 711 East Mansfield Street.
Families will be able to receive coats, jackets, school supplies and basic toiletry items at no cost. Since October 9th is a student holiday and parent conference day, families will have the opportunity to stop by while they are already connecting with their child’s school and select items that best meet the needs of their student.
Chief Communications and Community Engagement Officer Brooke Trahan said Cubs United Day “reflects the kind of community Brenham is.” She said, “What began as Coats for Cubs has grown because our community continues to step up for students and families. By bringing coats, school supplies, toiletries, and other resources together in one place, we can make it easier for families to get what they need.”
Superintendent Clay Gillentine said, “Brenham ISD is fortunate to be part of a community that consistently supports its schools and its students. Cubs United Day is another example of schools, businesses, organizations, and community members working together to make a meaningful difference for our families.”
In preparation for Cubs United Day, Brenham ISD Is collecting donations through Friday, October 2nd. Community members may drop off donations of new toiletry items; new school supplies; and new or gently used coats, jackets and sweaters at the Brenham ISD Administration Office during regular business hours.
The district thanks Classic Care Cleaners for supporting the effort by laundering gently used coats, jackets and sweaters before they are distributed to students.
