WEST SIDE TASK FORCE LOOKING FOR THREE MEN THAT FLED EARLY MORNING TRAFFIC STOP

The West Side Task Force is looking for three men that fled the scene of a traffic stop that occurred early this (Tuesday) morning.

Just before 3am, the Task Force conducted criminal interdiction operations near IH-10 Eastbound at Mile Marker 685 in Weimar.

During the operation, an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle, prompting four male occupants to flee on foot.

The individuals were last observed running south from the area near I-10 Eastbound at Mile Marker 685.

Following an extensive search that involved deputies, K9 units, and a drone, one male was located around 5am. K9 Knox from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office successfully located the individual, who was subsequently taken into custody.

The male in custody was identified as the driver of the vehicle and charged with human smuggling and evading law enforcement on foot.

The remaining three males have not yet been located. Law enforcement officials believe that the individuals may be unarmed. However, there is information indicating they could be in the country illegally, although their immigration status has not been independently confirmed.

Anyone who observes suspicious activity, or has information about the whereabouts of the remaining individuals is encouraged to contact the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office or local law enforcement.
