WASHINGTON COUNTY FARM BUREAU HOLDS 82ND ANNUAL MEETING

  

The Washington County Farm Bureau recently gave out awards and made special recognitions at their 82nd annual meeting at the American Legion Hall in Brenham.

President Larry Winkelmann welcomed members and guests in attendance.

Director Lance Searle introduced the 2026 Outstanding Farmer and Rancher, which went to the Schawe Family Farms. Florence Wolf and James Schawe were very appreciative of the recognition. Their niece, Jennifer Anderson, stated that the farm is as been in the family for six generations.

Youth Activities Leader Emily Searle gave highlights of the summer ag tour to Mikolajchak Hay Farms.

Young Farmer and Rancher Leader Jon Wellmann spoke on the programs they offer for young farmers and ranchers, ages 18 to 35.  Wellmann also talked about Ag Day that was held at the fairgrounds for all the fourth graders in Washington County.

Director Linda Oberhoff reported on the annual Food Connection event in which donations were made to: Burton Bridge Ministry, Brenham Bread  Partners and The Washington County Healthy Living Center.

McKenzie Tiemann of Brenham High School and Paige Fritsch of Burton High School gave appreciation to the members for being selected as  2026 scholarship winners.

Winkelmann presented items to the members for a vote for policy development, that were passed, and will advance to the Policy Development meeting in Waco for review.

A pork and beef meal followed the door prize drawings.
