CARL WOLFE INTRODUCED AS WASHINGTON COUNTY’S NEW FIRE SERVICES DIRECTOR, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Washington County’s first fire services director and new emergency management coordinator has officially stepped into his new role.

Carl Wolfe is introduced as Washington County's new
fire services director and emergency management
coordinator during Tuesday's county commissioners
meeting.

Carl Wolfe began working on Monday and was introduced during today’s (Tuesday) county commissioners meeting, following the court’s approval of his hiring in June.  Wolfe’s position will be focused on serving as a liaison for all of the county’s fire departments and developing and leading programs for fire safety, non-law enforcement public safety, and emergency preparedness.

Wolfe comes to Washington County as a captain from the Pearland Fire Department, where he has served for 19 years, and he also has worked in advertising, marketing and corporate management roles.  He said he appreciates the smaller size of the community and is looking forward to getting started.

Wolfe’s experience includes overseeing department-wide training programs, serving in multiple emergency management functions, and developing budgets, policies and procedures.  He also holds advanced certifications as a fire officer, fire instructor, incident safety officer, hazardous materials incident commander, fire inspector, live fire instructor, and multiple advanced firefighter certifications.

Wolfe said he wants to help ensure that the county is prepared to welcome in growth as it makes its way in, while maintaining the essential services that residents expect.

At the time of Wolfe’s hiring in June, Human Resources Director Amber Skalka said he would join the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s (TEEX) Fire Service Chief Executive Officer program, which she described as very difficult to be accepted into, soon after starting his position with Washington County.
