BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER PERFORMING FACILITIES MASTER PLAN

The Brenham City Council will meet Thursday to potentially approve an agreement to perform a facilities master plan.

The city is considering engaging GLS to study 13 of the city’s facilities to gather information that would be used when moving forward with how to address the needs of departments and future growth expectations.

The study will focus on the departments for water/sewer construction, gas, public utilities administration, streets, central warehouse, electric, and maintenance.  It will also evaluate other departments that have seen growth or have aging buildings, such as the first fire station, the parks shop, city hall, the animal shelter, and the police department.

The professional services agreement with GLS would be for $50,000.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, the council will vote on an agreement to perform overlay work on Stone Street, between South Market and South Day Street.  The proposed agreement is with Brazos Paving Inc. in the amount of $81,627.

Additionally, the council will consider a five-year agreement with Perry Weather, Inc. to upgrade the lightning detection systems for city parks.  The total cost for the five-year agreement would come out to $100,065.  The project would include added units at the Blue Bell Aquatic Center and the new Brenham Family Park, plus the systems at Hohlt, Henderson, Fireman’s, Linda Anderson and Jackson Street Parks.

In other business, councilmembers will take up an agreement addendum with M2L Associates Inc. for additional services related to the Brenham Family Park, specifically for the kayak/fishing pier and the covered pavilion next to the playscape and restrooms.  The additional services are valued at $24,000 for the pavilion and $33,000 for the fishing pier; all costs are paid for with donations.

The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
