VEHICLE FIRE CAUSES TENSE MOMENTS FRIDAY MORNING

A vehicle fire at the fuel pumps at the Valero convenience store in Chappell Hill caused some tense moments Friday morning.

Both the Brenham Fire Department and the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Departments were called out at 8:12 Friday morning to the Valero at 8901 Highway 290 where a vehicle near the fuel pumps was on fire. Chappell Hill Firemen were able to extinguish the blaze without any further damage.

Brenham Firemen also had two other minor calls Friday. They were dispatched to Wheeler Dormitory at Blinn College at 807 West Third Street at 2:29 p.m. Friday for an automatic alarm. Firemen found someone had burned food in a microwave oven, and no action was necessary.

At 7:05 Friday night the Brenham Fire Department was called to 1312 Prairie Lea Street for a fuel spill. They used absorbent to mitigate 5 gallons of diesel that had spilled.
