TRAUMA DOCTOR TO ADDRESS NEXT ‘LIFETIME LEARNING’

The final Lifetime Learning luncheon of the spring series will focus on trauma care.

The luncheon, set for Friday, May 4th at the Blinn Student Center, will feature Dr. Catherine Musemeche.

An experienced surgeon, Dr. Musemeche will describe the origins of trauma care, which did not exist 40 years ago.  Her talks, “The Medical Lessons of War: Spurring Innovation and Driving the Development of Modern Trauma Care,” will address the rapid changes in trauma care.

This life-saving service is relatively new, as Dr. Kate Musemeche describes in her book, Hurt: the Inspiring, Untold Story of Trauma Care. 

Dr. Musemeche is a former surgery professor at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, the MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, and the University of New Mexico, where she was the chief of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Trauma.

Members of the Washington County EMS, who will also participate in the program.   Learn what you need to know about how to receive help from our county EMS.  Representatives from EMS will also demonstrate how to use the automatic external defibrillator (AED).

Dr. Musemeche’s book will be available for purchase at the luncheon.
