MASONIC LODGE ESTABLISHES SCHOLARSHIP AT BLINN
Caldwell High School students planning to attend Blinn College now have a new endowed scholarship, thanks to a Masonic Lodge in Caldwell.
The Blinn College Foundation recently accepted a $15,280 gift from Warren Masonic Lodge #56 to establish a new endowed scholarship benefitting Caldwell Independent School District students.
Warren Masonic Lodge #56 established its first endowed scholarship in 2013, awarded to one student from Caldwell ISD each year. With the addition of this year’s donation, two students from Caldwell ISD will receive Warren Masonic Lodge Endowed Scholarships each year.
Sam Sommer, Chair of the Blinn Foundation Board of Directors, said “We are grateful for the Warren Masonic Lodge’s continued generosity to the students in their local community,” “It’s exciting that more students from Caldwell attending Blinn will benefit from scholarships set up exclusively for them.”
Larry Pruett, Chairman of the Warren Masonic Lodge Scholarship Committee, said “We want to help students who didn’t make the top 10 percent in their class, but want to go to college and choose Blinn. Blinn College gives these students a great start in higher education.”
The scholarship funds were generated through donations from lodge members and fundraising efforts, including an annual golf tournament.
Applications for the Warren Masonic Lodge scholarships are available through Caldwell ISD.
