BRENHAM ISD UNVEILS NEW SAFETY, SECURITY METHODS

Brenham ISD has a clearer vision for its new safety and security task force.

The Brenham School Board revealed details and discussed goals of the group in today’s (Monday) meeting.  Task force members include parents, teachers, business and community leaders, as well as local officials recommended by the board of trustees.

According to Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson, the goal of the task force is to come together and develop a recommendation that will be presented to the board in July’s board meeting.  The school district will then consider and implement recommendations before the first day of school in August.  Recommendations that were discussed included streamlining entrances and exits on campuses, strengthening visitor identification processes, and providing additional armed school resource officers and security.

The school board approved the HVAC duct cleaning at Brenham High School, as well as an amendment to the budget to reallocate existing budget funds to replace equipment in the weight room.  The board also heard from Assistant Superintendents Dr. Jamey Johnson and Paul Aschenbeck, regarding accountability information and Krause Elementary School renovation progress.
