DROWNING AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

  

Burleson County authorities have released information regarding a drowning at Lake Somerville.

Sunday, around 4 p.m., the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a missing person in the water at Welch Park.

Witnesses say the female from Hearne had been swimming with a family member, when the cousin began struggling in the water.  Another swimmer came and took the cousin to safety, but could not find the woman.

The Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Game Wardens, Department of Public Safety and area fire departments, responded to assist.  At around 4:30 p.m., the woman was located, taken out of the water, and given CPR.  She was transported to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Caldwell, where she would be pronounced deceased.
