SNAKE CAUSES OVERNIGHT POWER OUTAGES NEAR BRENHAM

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative has restored power to over 600 members southeast of Brenham, after a snake was caught on a power line.

Bluebonnet was called out to the outage last night around 11 p.m. along US 290, east of Texas Highway 36.  When crews were patrolling electrical lines, they discovered and removed the snake, which had crossed all three lines at the top of the power pole.  Crews restored power to the 644 affected members in less than two hours.

This marks the fifth snake related power outage for BEC within the past two weeks.  BEC was called out to related incidents in Washington, Burleson, Lee, Bastrop, and Travis counties over the last two weeks of June.
