HELICOPTER CRASH IN GRIMES COUNTY

  

Grimes County authorities are investigating a helicopter crash on the Texas Renaissance Festival grounds in Todd Mission on Friday.

According to Investigator Jimmy Armatys, the crash occurred around noon on Friday.  The pilot says she was attempting to take off from the grounds, but a mechanical issue with the tail rotor forced the helicopter to plunge back to the ground.

The pilot, along with her granddaughter, sustained mild injuries in the crash.  They have both been transported to Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.  Two other passengers on board were not injured.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as the National Transportation Safety Board, are currently investigating the crash.
