SOMERVILLE TEACHER ARRESTED FOLLOWING ACCUSATIONS

  

Update: A teacher from Somerville High School has been arrested, after allegations surfaced of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Interim Superintendent Karla Sparks says, in a post on the Somerville ISD Facebook page, that former head softball coach Chris Coronado was arrested for engaging in an improper relationship with a student.

Sparks says Coronado will not be back at the campus or district.  The matter is currently being investigated by both the district and law enforcement.

Sparks says the district will continue to cooperate with authorities while the case is pending.

Original Story: A teacher has been removed from Somerville High School amid allegations of an improper relationship with a student.

Interim Superintendent Karla Sparks says upon learning of the allegation, the district immediately reported it to law enforcement authorities.

At the time of this post, the teacher has not been arrested.

Sparks says they believe this is an isolated incident, but encourages anyone with additional information to report to the school district or law enforcement.

Sparks adds that the teacher will not be back at the campus or district and the matter is being investigated by the district, police and Texas Rangers.

She says the district will continue to cooperate with law enforcement while this is pending in the criminal justice system.
