WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS CONSIDERING ADVERTISING FOR WORK ON COUNTY FACILITY

Washington County Commissioners will seek to advertise for construction services for a new county building when they meet Tuesday morning.

The county is looking to request qualifications from architects to begin work on a new Road and Bridge, Environmental, and Rural Addressing facility.  The facility will be built outside Brenham city limits, on Highway 36 North.

Commissioners will also look at setting up an online auction for surplus Road and Bridge county property.

If the item is approved, an auction will be live on Gov-Deals, the county’s online auction service, from October 16th to the 31st.  The auction would be available for anyone to browse at https://www.govdeals.com/.

The county will also consider a set of tax phase-in agreements from Stanpac and MIC Group. The city of Brenham recently approved these abatements for the businesses, which are adding on to their locations in Brenham.

Commissioners will also hear requests from the Chappell Hill Historical Society for the upcoming Scarecrow Festival. The Society is asking for approval of a right of way permit, and for several roads to be closed in town, starting Saturday, October 13th.

The court will also consider approving a resolution authorizing the 2019 Indigent Defense Formula Grant Program, as well as the naming of a previously unnamed private road off of Palestine Road. Commissioners are considering naming the road “Camp Blessing Lane.”

In addition, commissioners will look to change their next meeting date from Tuesday, October 9th to Monday, October 8th, still at 9 a.m.  Several court members will be attending the annual County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas Conference, held from the 8th to the 10th at the Woodlands Waterway Marriot.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
