BRENHAM JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS COMPETE IN ‘CITIES IN SPACE’

Earlier this month, Brenham Junior High School had four “Mission Possible” teams participating in the Cities in Space competition in Austin.

(1st row, from left): Caraline Ross, Alicia Ortiz, Payton Farmer, Micayla Moreno, Adrie Niemeyer
(2nd row): Bryce Garner, Brady Lawhorn, Peter Do, Henry Pham, Kaleb Meyer, Noah Childs
(3rd row): Juan Rosales, Jisselle DeLeon, Lia Gonzalez, Steve Arguello, Allison Marburger, Jakob Davis, Eric Cruz, Harry Pham

Nearly 20 students made up the four Mission Possible teams, which focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and the space industry.

Student teams created their own space colony for the moon, Mars, or free space for the competition.

Based on a human population of 1,000 people, each space colony is planned around successful human growth and survival.  Teams had to create the colony with a 3D model, or a virtual model through the popular video game Minecraft.

Teams also had to write a six-page research paper, and make presentation slides to use during the one-hour open forum for presenting.

Brenham ISD congratulates each of the teams and participants on a great job in the competition.
