TWO LOCAL RESIDENTS ARRESTED ON D.W.I. CHARGES
Brenham Police made two arrests over the weekend on Driving While
Intoxicated charges.
Friday, just before midnight, Officer Alex Saenz conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 Block of North Park Street.
19-year old Alanna Jayne Best of Brenham was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had open containers of alcohol in her vehicle.
Best was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
Sunday morning, just before 1:00, Officer Saenz conducted a traffic stop in the 500 Block of South Chappell Hill Street.
The driver, 25-year old Justin Ray Perry of Brenham, was ruled to be intoxicated.
Perry was placed in custody and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked for Driving While Intoxicated.
Having taxi would reduce the number of drunk people on the road…but also increase the number of people at bars since the smart drunk people at home can finally go out in brenham
This will continue to be an issue as long as there remains no taxi/Uber service in brenham. Imagine how many people drive home drunk every weekend from downtown, kenney store, etc.
I totally agree but Brenham has turned down multiple interest in taxi services or they couldn’t afford the liability cost and other strick issues that ran the two taxi services we had over a 10 year period that I can remember but might of been a few more.
I also think just asking a friend to come along or call before you leave the bar, store, a friends house party etc. would save alot of problems such as dwi’s but I guess when your intoxicating you possibly think “oh I can make it” until something happens then it’s too late! It’s said over and over in life, just take a minute to think before you act!
Be safe everyone if you celebrate the holidays but also know there are innocent families on the roads. Thanks
i hope that no one here is insuiating that it is someone else fault these people got arrested for DWI if they want to blame anyone they need to look in the mirror. The fact that there is no taxi service or no u we in this town has no bearing on the fact that these people made a bad decision. They should have stayed where they were at or figured the ride situation before they even started drinking please do not blame anyone or anything else but themselves. By blaming someone else other than these folks themselves you are advocating their behavior.
Exactly Frank! Don’t drink and drive.
What a simple and effective concept!
Absolutely correct. There is always some way to get home w/o driving drunk. Almost everyone has a cell phone to call someone to pick you up. Poor judgement rises along with the blood alcohol level. If you are someone who thinks you can drive as well or better with alcohol in your system, you need to stop drinking.
