HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES IN BRAZOS VALLEY THIS WEEKEND
With the holiday season kicking into full gear, there’s certainly no shortage of Christmas celebrations across the state of Texas.
Here are some of the events happening this weekend in the area:
- Brenham will host the downtown “Home-style” Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade, beginning tonight (Friday) with the lighting of the Christmas tree. Rides on the city’s 1950 Invader Fire Truck, Tuba Christmas concert, Jingle Bell Market, Farmers and Artisan Pop-Up Market, and more all await guests to downtown Brenham tonight. - Bellville’s Small Town Christmas began Thursday with the Little Mister and Miss Pageant, but the main slate of activities begins in downtown tonight. Santa Claus will come to light the courthouse tree, before the Small Town Christmas Parade. Following that, there will be activities at the mini-park, pictures with Santa, and a street dance with David Lewis. Saturday will have breakfast with Santa at Newman’s Bakery, along with a Farmer’s Market and Market Day on the square. For more information, go online to www.bellvillesmalltownchristmas.com.
- The 32nd Annual Fantasy of Lights will bring “A Candy Land Christmas” to Sealy. Guests will be able to participate in a sanctioned barbecue cook-off, ice skating, enjoy live entertainment, and much more. - Navasota is looking to be your “Home for the Holidays” throughout Saturday. From the community tree lighting and “North Pole Fantasy” Lighted Christmas Parade, to ice skating, bumper cars, and pictures with Santa, Navasota will be offering all sorts of things to do, beginning Saturday morning. - Activities in Flatonia began Thursday, with the lighting of the Christmas Village, but there will still be plenty to do Friday and Saturday. Friday night will feature a Winter Wine Walk, an ugly sweater contest, a wine bottle ring toss, arts and craft vendors, and a cookie walk. The KTEX-106 and KWHI crews will be all across the Brazos Valley this weekend, covering holiday events. Tonight, Blake Hickerson will be in Brenham for the tree lighting at 5 p.m., and Trail Boss Troy will be in Bellville for the Small Town Christmas at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Holly Ryder will be in Brenham at noon for the Christmas Stroll, and she’ll also be driving in the lighted parade at 6 p.m., with Cactus Ken Murray and Blake Hickerson announcing the parade. Cactus Ken will be out in Sealy before then, at the Fantasy of Lights at 2 p.m. Finally, Trail Boss Troy will be in Navasota at 5 p.m. for the Home for the Holidays celebration.
