LOCAL BBQ MAKES ‘TEXAS MONTHLY’ TOP LIST

A local Barbeque has been mentioned as one of the state’s best in the latest issue of Texas Monthly magazine.

L.J.’s Barbeque, located in the 1400 block of West Main St., received recognition in the Texas Monthly article, “The Best Texas BBQ Bites of 2018”.

The author, Daniel Vaughn, said he “had one of the best combo plates this year” at L.J.’s.

Vaughn went on to say, “every bite competed with the last for most memorable.”  He added, he “loved the creamy alfredo-like mac and cheese and tender collards, almost as much as the barbeque.”

He concluded, “Their trio of juicy beef sausage peppery and sweet pork ribs, smoky brisket is hard to beat.”

Vaughn also praised the pork steak at Matus Pit Bar-B-Q in Caldwell, calling it, “possibly the best value in Texas Barbeque.”

He also praised the pork belly burnt ends at All The King’s Men Barbeque in Bryan.

The current edition of Texas Monthly, featuring the 2018 Bum Steer Awards, is available on local newsstands.
