THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED, IDENTIFIED AFTER MULTI-COUNTY MANHUNT

  

Three suspects have been taken into custody, following a Monday night pursuit involving Washington and Grimes County authorities.

30-year-old Keldrin Walter, 25-year-old Glenn Chatman, and 27-year-old Courtlynn Harris, each of Navasota, were arrested after leading officers on a manhunt that ended this (Tuesday) morning.

Walter faces a laundry list of charges: Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Evading on Foot, warrants for Criminal Non Child Support and Assault of a Family Member Impeding Breath or Circulation with Previous Convictions, Interfering with an Emergency Call with Previous Convictions, and a writ of commitment. Several other charges are pending against Walter, pending from prior investigations.

Chatman and Harris were each charged with Evading on Foot. Chatman also faces charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana, while Harris has an outstanding capias warrant.

Around 4:40 p.m. Monday, Navasota police received a call from a subject being chased by several people in a white Chevy Tahoe. The caller was a victim of a previous assault incident, involving the occupants of the Tahoe.

Police stopped the vehicle on West Washington Avenue, but it fled from the officers. A chase through Navasota led officers west bound on Highway 105 and into Washington County, ending in a crash on Puddin Lane.  The vehicle went through a gate, passed through a pasture and into a creek.  The three subjects inside the vehicle fled on foot into the woods.

Numerous agencies arrived on scene to set up a perimeter. These included DPS, Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), Washington and Grimes County Sheriff’s Offices, Washington County Constables, and Texas Game Wardens.

A DPS helicopter, along with TDCJ canines, began searching the area and located Chatman around 9:45 p.m. Chatman was taken into custody, possessing a 9mm pistol and over an ounce of marijuana.

Later that night, around 11 p.m., officers saw a man walking out of the woods onto Highway 105, near the Brazos River bridge. The man was identified as Harris, one of the passengers inside the vehicle that was pursued by officers.  Harris was taken into custody.

The search ended at midnight, but officers remained in the area. Around 7:30 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning, Brenham police noticed a Dodge truck and gooseneck trailer missing from property in the 11300 block of Hidalgo Falls Road.

While police investigated the stolen truck, a man was seen walking across the pasture. Navasota police responded, but Brenham police had Walter in custody.

TDCJ dogs were sent into the pasture, and they tracked Walter’s path back to the Dodge truck still running, stuck in a pasture near the Brazos River.  Walter was taken to the Grimes County Jail, on the previously mentioned charges.
