BLINN STUDENTS VISIT STATE CAPITOL
A group of Blinn students observed Texas Community College Day this past Wednesday by stopping by the state Capitol in Austin.

27 students, coming from each of Blinn’s campuses, visited with state legislators about the value of community colleges, and what Blinn has done for them.
Their day started in the Senate chambers inside the Capitol, where more than 1,000 students from the state’s 50 community college districts were recognized by state lawmakers.
Blinn students then spoke with Senators Lois Kolkhorst and Charles Schwertner, along with Representatives Ben Leman, Kyle Kacal and John Raney, regarding community college funding and the state’s growing demand for community colleges.
Sophomore Nathan Stinson said the visit was “very beneficial” for him, as he intends to pursue a career in public service. Freshman Addison Elstner said this was one of, if not her favorite experience in the Student Government Association, because it “brought everything together” and let students see their local work at the state level.
