WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO MULL FLAGPOLE PURCHASE FOR COURTHOUSE ROOF
Washington County Commissioners will consider whether to pursue additional work on the courthouse at their meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).
After approving a contract in June to replace the roof of the courthouse, courthouse annex, and probation annex, commissioners will meet to discuss the purchase of a new flagpole.
The purchase would consist of a 50-foot counter balanced flagpole with a six-foot mounting base. During commissioners court on June 18th, County Facilities Manager Bobby Branham said the flagpole would replace the out-of-service radio tower currently on the roof.
According to Branham, the flagpole would be shorter than the radio tower, but it would be able to fly a 12x18-foot flag and allow for easier handling of Christmas lights. Work on the roof is estimated to start sometime next month.
Also at tomorrow’s meeting, commissioners will act upon possible extension of a lease agreement with the City of Brenham for the 911 dispatch center at 301 North Baylor Street. At its meeting July 11th, the Brenham City Council agreed to renew the lease for two more years. The county has been renting the facility ever since it took over dispatching duties from the city several years ago.
The court will also consider an interlocal agreement with the volunteer fire departments in the county for fire protection services. In addition, it will go through a series of monthly reports.
Commissioners will also consider:
- A supplemental easement and right-of-way agreement, release and easement pay schedule between the county and AEP Texas Inc., concerning property in Tom Green County.
- An amendment to operating agreement food services with Aramark Correctional Services, LLC.
Commissioners will meet tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
