A&M SOPHOMORE STRUCK BY TEEN DRIVER LOSES LIFE

Carly Beatty

A Texas A&M student, struck by an alleged teen drunk driver a week ago, has died.

19-year old Carly Beatty died a week after she was struck, while walking home with friends, early last Sunday morning.

Beatty, a 2018 graduate of Centennial High School in Frisco, and a veterinary science major at A&M, was hit while crossing Texas Avenue in College Station.  Police say 17-year old Pedro Puga, of Bryan admitted to taking Xanax and cocaine before driving the car that struck Beatty.

Puga led police on a brief chase, and told authorities upon his arrest, “I don’t deal with laws.”

Puga was originally arrested and charged with intoxication assault, evading arrest and fleeing the scene of an accident.  He was released on $26,000 bond, but later arrested on additional charges.  He remains in custody enlieu of $250,000 bond.

College Station police say additional charges will likely come from the Grand Jury reviewing the case.

  1. Well, the perp may not “deal with the laws”, but he will have to deal with his fellow prisoners in TDCJ. He’ll be really popular there and will make many, many new friends.

Puga led police on a brief chase, and told authorities upon his arrest, “I don’t deal with laws.” Young Mr. Puga may not deal with laws, but my hope is that the law deals very firmly with him. This young man needs to be taught a very serious lesson. When zero remorse is shown, our legal system should show no mercy! I am very sad for this young ladies family. My prayers go out to them.

  3. Seventeen – taken one life, ruined many more. The lack of remorse, the attitude, the multiple charges tell me this kid needs to spend decades behind bars. The do-gooders will say he need a chance at rehab, That he is only seventeen, I say, fine, give him that chance after he spends several decades in the pen. Xanax and cocaine, hit and run, intoxication assault (will likely be upgraded to vehicular homicide), ran from the cops, additional charges likely. Society doesn’t need him back on the streets.

  4. Sooo sad for that young lady who had ambition and was striving for success , be taken out by this dude !! “I don’t deal with laws?” He should’ve had No Bond. God bless her family!! ??

  5. May God bless her family and give them comfort. Sounds like the young man has no remorse whatsoever for his actions.
