BRENHAM ANIMAL SERVICES TAKING PART IN SEVERAL WEEKEND PET EVENTS
This weekend, Brenham Animal Services will be out and about, participating in a variety of events locally and in the region.
Saturday, animal service workers will be at Puppy Dawgs and Cat Tails in downtown Brenham from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a book release party.
Attendees will be able to pick up new copies of “How to Fetch a Felon” and meet the author, Cat Clayton. In addition to book signings, there will be a live reading and pet adoptions.
Officials will also be out Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Washington on the Brazos for Bark in the Park. Visitors are invited to bring a dog on a leash to the second annual, admission-free event for dogs and their owners of all ages.
Entertainment and activities include food and music, canine police demos, pet training, historical talks, kiddy pools, pet portraits, contests, and vendors selling dog themed products. There will also be adoptable dogs onsite.
On Sunday, the team will head to Austin for the 10th Annual Puppymill Awareness Day, a free event at Republic Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be rescue groups and vendors, live music, wiener dog races, a blessing of the animals, and cash giveaways to rescues. Guest emcees Jim Spencer and KAXAN, of Austin TV station KXAN, will also be onsite. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome.
