BISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION AWARDS RECORD YEAR OF MINI-GRANT FUNDS

The Brenham ISD Education Foundation has awarded a record year of over $77,000 in mini-grant funds.

Last week, Foundation board members, corporate sponsors, and percussion members of the Brenham Cub Band traveled to each Brenham ISD campus and awarded recipients with surprise announcements.  This year had the most ever awarded, at $77,656.

The 15-year-old Foundation awards grants up to $5,000 for campuses and up to $500 for teachers.  All K-12 teachers and campus administrators are eligible to apply in August of each year.

Funding for this year of mini-grants was provided by the Education Foundation, Grainger Foundation, Blue Bell Creameries, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, BBVA Compass, Citizen’s State Bank, ABM Building Value, Kolkhorst Petroleum, UBEO/Cindy Wells, ACU of Texas, Brenham National Bank, Crain Group, LTY Engineers, Bank of Brenham, Plan North, Mattrezzz Guys, HEB, Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Project Control, Steve Perry, VanDyke Rankin Insurance, Rotary Club, BISD CTE Department, BISD Special Education Department, BISD Special Programs Department, and BISD Technology Department.

Since 2004, the Foundation has awarded numerous grants to Brenham ISD campuses and teachers, totaling over $383,000.  The growth of mini-grant distributions to Brenham ISD was made possible due to corporate and local sponsors, along with the annual Arts and Appetizers event.  The next Arts and Appetizers will take place February 27, 2020.
