BISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION RAISES ALMOST $50,000 AT ARTS AND APPETIZERS
The BISD Education Foundation raised $49,761 at the 15th annual Arts and Appetizers event. Emerging artists from the Brenham Independent School District showcased and auctioned off their brilliant pieces of art during the event held in the ballroom at Ant Street Inn this past Thursday.
The audience and support for this year’s event was one of the largest to date. Multiple sponsors, local officials, community members, parents, and BISD staff filled the ballroom in support of the BISD art students and Brenham Public Schools. The crowd’s boasting energy and generous support made this the most successful Arts and Appetizers Event thus far.
Preliminary totals from the BISD Education Foundation reflect a total of $49,761 raised during the event. This surpasses last year’s total of $31,381 by $18,380! This year, $30,285 was brought in through the live and silent auctions, $6,920 was raised by the raffle tickets, and $12,556 was donated to the Foundation through donations and sponsorships.
The highlight of the live auction was the artwork created by Brenham High School 12th grade artists Jill Rosenbaum and Elizabeth Markos “American Sunset” and “A Moment of Silence” were both selected for this year’s invitation and received the highest art piece bids of the night. Both were purchased for $1,800 by Kelm Angus Farm and Thrivent Financial/Anonymous donor.
Other top selling items included a Frio River vacation which sold on the live auction for $2,400 to Connie Meten, Cynthia Barker and Vickie Wehmeyer, a NFL memorabilia package which sold for $1,700 to Appel Ford and Kami Leonard, and two (2) pieces of artwork created by Delaney Duran which sold for $1,600 to Citizens State Bank and $1,500 to Brannon Industrial Group (BIG).
The Foundation is thankful for the support of everyone who attended the event and supported our mission and the emerging artists of BISD.
The Brenham ISD Education Foundation will distribute the funds raised at the event to sponsor teacher mini-grants for items to use in classrooms.
