TEXAS INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION THIS WEEKEND
The Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historical Site is hosting its annual “Texas Independence Day Celebration” today and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday).
The admission-free event will allow visitors to freely wander a bonafide 1836 Texas Army camp and learn how soldiers and their families lived, and witness musket and cannon firings. There will also be two stages of live music and entertainment, including the Texas A&M Singing Cadets, the Brenham Children’s Chorus, and several folk music performances.
New this year, living historians will present highlights of the Convention of 1836 both days of the event, showcasing important debates, decisions, and correspondence.
The celebration is presented by H-E-B and coordinated by the Washington on the Brazos Historical Foundation, in partnership with the Texas Historical Commission and The Texas Army reenactors.
