ACKER THROWS NO-HITTER FOR SOONERS

Former Brenham Cup pitcher Dane Acker took his place in the history books, Sunday afternoon.

Acker, a junior pitcher for the Sooners, fired a no-hitter against 11th-ranked LSU, in the Shriners College Classic in Houston.

Acker struck out 11 batters and walked just one, as the #22-ranked Sooners beat the Tigers, 1-0.

Acker was a standout pitcher and third baseman for the Brenham Cubs.  He transferred to OU after going 10-0, with a 2.36 ERA with the Gators.

Acker is now 1-1 this season, with a 2.57 earned run average.  He has 25 strikeouts and yielded just seven hits in 21 innings.

Dane is the son of Susan and Casey Acker of Brenham.
