CUBETTES DROP DISTRICT SOFTBALL SHOOTOUT, 12-10

The Brenham Cubettes dropped a heart-breaker in their District 19/5A softball opener, falling to A&M Consolidated, 12-10.

The game see-sawed from the start, with the Lady Tigers grabbing a 4-0 lead in the first.  The Cubettes rallied with five runs in the second, boosted by a three-run homer by Kali Garcia and a two-run shot from Kramer Eschete.

Consol (4-8/1-0) tallied two more runs in the second, but Eschete knotted it up when she drove home Garcia with a single in the third.

Brenham (2-12/0-1) held a brief lead with two runs in the fourth.  Kenley Mikolajchak drove home Maggie Hodde with a single.  Jenna Hardy then scored on an error.

The Lady Tigers scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth to take an 8-6 lead.

The Cubettes tied the game with two in the sixth, when Karliegh Flisowski scored on an error and Garcia was forced home on hit batter.

But, Consolidated put two runs on the board in the sixth, then were able to keep Brenham off the board in the seventh-despite loading the bases.

The Cubettes will be back in action Thursday, hosting the Brenham Tournament:
