SPRING OPEN COLLECTION DAYS BEGIN THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM RESIDENTS

Starting tomorrow (Thursday) and running through Saturday, Brenham residents will be able to take part in the annual Spring Open Collection Days.

The Citizens Collection Station, at 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road in Brenham, will offer free disposal of non-hazardous waste for city residents tomorrow through Saturday. The collection days for Washington County residents are not until April 2-4.

The open collection event is only for non-commercial customers, who will need to show proof of residence and ID upon arrival.

The first 500 pounds of debris per household can be dumped at no charge; anything above that will be charged at the full rate. The collection station charges $90 per ton of non-compactible debris, and $22.50 per ton of brush and yard waste.

Appliances with coolant will be assessed a $20 removal fee prior to drop-off. Tires will be taken at the normal gate rate.

Household computers will be accepted, but large quantities of computers will be rejected. Propane tanks and loads with dirt, cement, and/or bricks will also be turned away.

After dropping off their trash, residents can pick up a load of municipal mulch for their spring gardens.

Business hours for the Citizens Collection Station are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
