BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE TO HOLD ANNUAL MEETING TUESDAY VIA CONFERENCE CALL
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative will hold its annual meeting tomorrow (Tuesday), but the meeting will look much different than in years past.
The cooperative’s Board of Directors will meet tomorrow morning via conference call to conduct business for the meeting, which will not have any attendance from the public.
The board in March made the decision to disallow public attendance to avoid endangering the health of Bluebonnet members, employees, and communities through the spread of COVID-19.
Bluebonnet Board Chair Ben Flencher said while the cooperative’s annual meeting is very important, the health and well-being of Bluebonnet’s members, employees, and communities is more important. He said it would be “irresponsible and unwise” to invite the public to the meeting and risk exposing the hundreds of people who attend.
Bluebonnet’s bylaws require the cooperative to annually hold a meeting in May. Four incumbent directors are unopposed in this year’s election, and there is no anticipated new business during the meeting.
Members were asked to fill out and return proxy forms that were mailed to them to ensure they are represented in any business of the cooperative at the meeting.
