MULTIPLE STABBINGS REPORTED MONDAY IN GIDDINGS

SUSPECT DEAD AFTER BEING SHOT BY POLICE

  

Update @ 6:45 a.m. Tuesday: Authorities have confirmed four people were stabbed Monday morning.  An update on their condition has not been given.  The Texas Rangers, Giddings police, and Lee County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.

Update @ 2:10 p.m.: Multiple stabbings were reported this (Monday) morning in Giddings, and the suspect involved was shot and killed by law enforcement.

The Giddings Times & News reported that Lee County EMS was called to stabbing incidents before 9 a.m. at two different downtown locations.  Medics responded to the intersection of U.S. 77 and Independence Street and the intersection of Waco Street and Independence Street.  At the locations, according to the newspaper, medics found three different victims had been stabbed in the neck.

The suspect was located near Simmang Park and Soccer Fields, south of where the victims were found.  The suspect was killed after being shot by a Giddings police officer.

The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation, according to Giddings police.  Authorities have not determined a motive for the incident or given an update on the condition of the victims.  The Rangers say as investigation is current and ongoing, there will not be any additional information released at this time.
