ELECTION DAY FOR REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY RUNOFFS

  

Election Day has arrived for the Republican and Democratic Primary Runoffs.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) at four polling locations in Washington County, after both political parties decided to consolidate voting sites.

  • Comm. Prec. 1 – Voting Prec. 101, 104, 109, 115, 117 & 121 – Event Center at Fairgrounds, 1305 E. Blue Bell Road, Brenham
  • Comm. Prec. 2 – Voting Prec. 202, 203, 205 & 208 – VFW Hall, 1200 E. Tom Green, Brenham
  • Comm. Prec. 3 – Voting Prec. 307, 311, 312, 316 & 320 – American Legion Hall, 903 N. Park Street, Brenham
  • Comm. Prec. 4 – Voting Prec. 406, 410, 413, 414, 418 & 419 – Blinn Student Center, 1007 Walter Schwartz Way, Brenham

In Washington County, Republicans will have just one race to vote on: the 1st Court of Appeals District, Place 5 race between Terry Adams and James Lombardino.

Democrats will vote on the U.S. Senate race between Mary “MJ” Hegar and Royce West, the 10th Congressional District race between Mike Siegel and Pritesh Gandhi, the Texas Railroad Commission featuring Roberto “Beto” Alonzo and Chrysta Castañeda, and the 14th Court of Appeals District, Place 7 race between Cheri Thomas and Tamika “Tami” Craft.

Meanwhile, voters in Lee and Waller County will decide today on the Sheriff’s races in their counties.

In Lee County, retired DPS Major Casey Goetz and Fayette County Sheriff’s Detective Garrett Durrenberger, both Republicans, will compete for the position currently held by Sheriff Rodney Meyer, who is not seeking re-election.

The winner of the race between current Waller County Sheriff R. Glenn Smith and Troy Guidry, trainer and instructor for the K9 and Mounted Patrol Divisions of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, will secure the Republican nomination for the final race in November against Democrat Cedric D. Watson.  Watson previously ran and lost to Smith in 2016.
