FAYETTE CO. FAIR CANCELLED; SOME EVENTS WILL STILL OCCUR

The Fayette County Fair, scheduled for September 3-6, has been cancelled, but some fair events are still anticipated to continue.

Monday night, the Fayette County Fair Association Board of Directors released a statement indicating the board’s decision to cancel the fair, under the advice and direction of city and county officials.  The board said it is aware of the risk involved of hosting a few thousand attendees at the fair, and risking an outbreak as school and college start “would not be a wise choice”.

However, the board said it will still be sponsoring the commercial heifer show and sale, livestock show, Queen’s Pageant, Little Miss and Mister Contest, Go Texan Barbecue Cook-off, and the Saturday parade if the parade can be worked out.  It also announced it will be holding a “Virtual Fair” online that will take place at the time the fair would have been.

The board said the mission of the Fayette County Fair Association is to promote agriculture and youth education, and hopes it can help this cause by sponsoring these activities.

More details about fair events will be released as they are worked out.  To learn more, visit https://www.fayettecountyfair.org.
