The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission approved a rezoning request for land on Prairie Lea Street at its virtual meeting Monday.
The Commission approved the rezoning of approximately 5.08 acres of vacant property at 1303 and 1305 Prairie Lea Street, next to Silver Sage Assisted Living, from industrial use to commercial research and technology use.
Project Planner Shauna Laauwe said the property is broken up into two pieces, with Nathan Winkelmann owning approximately 0.849 acres and Michael Benestante owning 4.236 acres. The two made the rezoning request to allow them more options for the types of uses that may be permitted for future commercial development.
No objections to the rezoning were presented.
