ROUND TOP-CARMINE ISD RELEASES REOPENING GUIDELINES

Round Top-Carmine ISD has released its plan for reopening school at the end of August.

In a letter to parents and guardians, the district says campuses will have staggered start dates to help students and staff with the logistics of the transition back to school.

On Monday, August 24th, only grades 10-12 and 4-6 will be allowed on campus.  On Tuesday, August 25th, 7th through 9th graders and Pre-K through 3rd graders will attend classes, while the other grade levels stay home.  There will be no bus transportation on these two days.

Normal bus schedules will resume on Wednesday, August 26th, when all grade levels return to campuses.  Schools will not open until 7:30 a.m., so parents are asked to not drop off their children before then, as they will not be allowed to enter campuses early.

Parents wishing to have their children participate in virtual learning instead of face-to-face instruction need to contact the district no later than August 14th.  Students may choose to switch from distance learning to in-class instruction at the end of a six week grading period.

All staff will have personal protective equipment.  In addition to wearing face shields, teachers will have the option of wearing masks.  Students in Pre-K through 3rd grade are strongly encouraged to wear masks, while 4th through 12th graders will be required to wear masks.  Students will be required to wear masks on the bus.

Both campuses will be closed to all visitors until further notice.  Students will not be assigned lockers; books, binders, and class specific supplies will be stored in each classroom.  Hand sanitizer stations will be readily accessible, and water fountains will be turned off as touchless water bottle filling stations will be installed.

Full details of the plan can be seen online at www.rtcisd.net.
