SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL WASHINGTON CO. ENTITIES IN AUGUST
Local sales and tax distributions were up this month for all Washington County entities.
The county’s August rebate totaled $293,350, 5.4 percent up from its payment last August of $278,243. Through 2020 so far, the county has received $2,021,707, down 6 percent from the $2,152,968 it received through this point last year.
Brenham received $666,276 this month, up 5 percent from the payment of $634,411 it received last August. So far this year, the city has received $4,611,291, a 1.35 percent dip from last year’s payment-to-date of $4,674,791.
Burton’s rebate in August was $7,739, a 5.8 percent increase from the $7,310 it received last August. To date, the city has received $59,065, up 7.3 percent from the $55,007 it had received at this time last year.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state paid out $908.7 million in August, up 3.6 percent from last August, and up 0.7 percent for the year to this point.
