BRENHAM POLICE K-9 ROBBIE RETIRING
A beloved Brenham Police Department K-9 is hanging up the badge.
K-9 Robbie is retiring after assisting the Brenham Police Department in hundreds of operations since November of 2016, when she was paired with Officer Andrew Adams. The Brenham City Council recognized Robbie at its meeting Thursday by proclaiming September 17, 2020 as K-9 Robbie Day.
Brenham Police Chief Ron Parker commended Officer Adams and Robbie for the service they have provided to the City of Brenham.
According to Sergeant Seth Klehm, Robbie, an eight-year-old Belgian Malinois, was deployed 525 times to help the agency during building searches, missing person searches, narcotics detection, and search warrant operations. Her efforts helped lead to 205 arrests. She also participated in 24 public demonstrations for children in school programs and churches.
Sgt. Klehm thanked the Citizens Police Academy for helping to kick off Brenham’s K-9 program and provide additional funding, as well as the individual donor who gave Robbie to the police department. He also thanked the Brenham Veterinary Hospital for taking care of her and other K-9s over the years.
Robbie will stay with Officer Adams, who joked that she now gets to be a stay-at-home dog and play with children all day. Adams said he and Robbie are a living testament that there is no stronger bond than between man and dog.
