BARNHILL CENTER ANNOUNCES SHOWS THROUGH 2021
The Barnhill Center in downtown Brenham will reopen this fall with live monthly performances planned starting in November.
The venue will reopen with social distancing, a mask mandate and temperature checks as patrons enter the building. Restrooms, railings, door handles and other public surfaces will be sanitized often throughout events.
City of Brenham Tourism and Marketing Director Jennifer Eckermann said safety protocols will be followed to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure for guests and staff. She said there will also be various concessions services to help guests avoid close contact while purchasing refreshments.
Live performances are planned through December of 2021, starting Saturday, November 14th with the first edition of the Darden Smith Singer/Songwriter Series, featuring Ray Benson, the founder and 50-year leader of the Western Swing band Asleep at the Wheel. Benson has released 28 albums and 21 hit songs on Billboard’s Country Charts, won ten Grammy Awards, and received multiple Hall of Fame inductions. He has also been the producer of recordings by Willie Nelson, Dale Watson, and Merle Haggard.
Barnhill Center show producer Sharon Brass said Smith, a Brenham native and Austin-based singer, songwriter, artist and educator, will share stories and insights from his profession throughout the series.
The rest of this year’s lineup includes The Music of John Denver by Jim Curry on Friday, November 27th and the Gary Morris Christmas Show on Saturday, December 12th.

Should any shows be cancelled or rescheduled, ticket holders will be contacted. They can either keep their tickets for the new dates or receive refunds.
