SOMERVILLE CLOSES DOWN SCHOOLS UNTIL NOVEMBER 30

The Somerville ISD has shut down its campuses for in-person learning, and will engage in virtual learning only until November 30.

The move was made Monday due to a recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases.

District Superintendent Karla Sparks says the move is the best way to ensure staff and students’ safety and help stop the spread of the virus.

The district reports 41 people are in quarantine after following all contact tracing protocols. Sparks says staff will also be denied access to the building during the two-week closure.

All extracurricular activities have been canceled through the end of the month as well.

Last week the Burton ISD shifted all instruction to remote learning until November 30th.
