CHAPPEL HILL TO CELEBRATE KOLEDY POLSKIE
A Polish custom, that dates back to the 14th century, will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) in Chappell Hill.
The fifth annual “Koledy Polskie,” which includes caroling from house to house and a cemetery candlelight vigil, begins tomorrow at 12:45 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Church in Chappell Hill.
Organizers say “Koledy Polskie” is a chance to embrace the area’s Polish culture,
“Koledy Polskie” is traditionally celebrated Dec. 26-29. The first day after Christmas is known as St. Stephen’s Day.
A schedule of homes that will be visited has been laid out, culminating with a candlelight vigil at dusk at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church cemetery and then fellowship at Jozwiak’s Store.
Participants are also asked to bring a Polish covered dish for the evening meal.
