Bengals rally back in final quarter to defeat the Bucs
EUNICE, La. — The No. 18 Blinn women’s basketball team held the lead for three quarters, but Louisiana State University Eunice rallied back in the final quarter for a 64-53 win Wednesday night.
The Buccaneers defeated LSU Eunice earlier in the season, but tonight the Bengals rallied back in the second half and outscored Blinn, 40-23, for the win.
With the loss, the Buccaneers now hold a 5-3 overall record.
“We went on the road and did not play well offensively or defensively,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “Hopefully we will practice well the next two days before going to play a good Paris team.”
Keaundra Eddings led the Buccaneers on offense with 14 points, while Jessica Soders followed with 10.
The Buccaneers held a 12-10 lead following the first quarter and were up 30-24 at the half. The Bengals began to rally in the third quarter, but the Buccaneers still maintained a 40-39 advantage. LSU Eunice jumped ahead of Blinn in the final quarter and sealed a 64-53 victory.
Next, the Buccaneers will resume conference play against Paris Junior College on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. on the road.
