WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS TO HOST ‘DINING WITH THE DELEGATES’
History buffs are invited to Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site to dine with some of Texas’ most prominent historical figures.
“Dining with the Delegates” will be held Saturday, May 1st from 5 to 9 p.m. on the lawn of Independence Hall. Guests can meet Sam Houston and other delegates from the Convention of 1836, hear period music, and enjoy a historically-inspired five-course meal at candlelit tables.
The meal will include scotch egg, fried catfish, black eyed peas, roasted potatoes, homemade bread and dewberry cobbler. Each course will be served with a mead pairing from Wildflyer Mead Company. There will also be a hand rolled cigar demonstration from Highlander Cigars, and each ticket sold will include an assorted Robusto size cigar.
In addition, 30-minute wet plate photography sessions will be available from Cody Mobley Ambrotypes. Sessions are weather dependent. Emails will be sent to those who have purchased photo sessions to schedule a time.
Tickets are $150 per plate, and photography sessions are available for $60. Space is limited. Tickets and photo sessions can be purchased at www.wheretexasbecametexas.org.
