BODY OF MISSING NAVASOTA MAN FOUND AT LAKE TRAVIS
The body of a Navasota man who went missing at Lake Travis during the Fourth of July weekend has been recovered by authorities.
Deputies with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of 28-year-old Lonnie Gray along the shoreline of the lake at approximately 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Gray went missing while swimming in the Hatter Cove area of the lake on July 3rd, just before 5 p.m.
Gray was last seen swimming in an area of the lake that is 85-130 feet deep. The search area was several football fields in length with groves of trees at the bottom, which are hazardous for sonar and divers.
With Gray’s body now recovered, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office has opened an investigation into the cause and manner of his death.
