BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER BOND CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT

  

The Burton School Board will take up a contract for construction of Burton ISD's newly approved bond project at its meeting Monday.

Trustees will consider a construction contract presented by DSA for the 2021 bond, which passed on Tuesday with 485 votes in approval, 331 in opposition.

The $43.8 million bond will be used to fund several upgrades and renovations across the district, including new and renovated classrooms; improvements to the cafeteria, kitchen and fine arts facilities; an enclosed connection for district buildings; a new competition gym and stadium with an 8-lane track; and various site and drainage improvements.

Also at Monday’s meeting, trustees will canvass election returns from Tuesday’s election.  They will also consider a contract with Alliance Engineering Group, Inc. for geotechnical engineering and consulting, construction materials observation and testing environmental engineering services.

The board will also consider:

  • Staff incentive pay.
  • Board policy updates pertaining to district policy for activity funds management, cybersecurity, termination of employment or resignation, personnel positions, required instruction, compensatory/accelerated services, retention and promotion, school safety transfers, compulsory attendance, attendance for credit, child abuse and neglect, and student records.
  • Casting votes for the Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors.
