The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission will hear a specific use permit request Monday for a new car wash.

Todd and Tyson Felder are seeking to remove the existing commercial building and accessory structure at 1413 West Main Street, the site of the former auto detailing business, Executive Hand Car Wash, and build a 24/7 automated car wash.

City staff members say the area has a mixture of residential and neighborhood commercial uses, with single-family homes, a beauty salon, a land surveyor, repair shops and restaurants all near the 0.61-acre lot.

Staff recommends approval of the specific use permit request, on several conditions.  Staff say the car wash must be built with the dryers or blowers within the car wash bay structure, and must have noise-lessening cones attached.

The car wash must also place the automated entrance machine or teller underneath a canopy, use hooded and downcast lighting, and submit a landscaping and screening plan that conforms to the city’s landscaping and bufferyard requirements.

The commission will meet Monday at 5:15 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
