BRENHAM ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO CALL FOR A BOND ELECTION AT A MEETING ON MONDAY

The Brenham ISD Board of Trustees will be calling for a bond election at a special meeting coming up Monday at noon at the BISD Central Office.

The board held a workshop this past Thursday to discuss a single-proposition proposal that would be worth $153.9 million.

The biggest projects would be the construction of a new junior high school that would accommodate grades 6-8, and repurposing the Brenham Middle School for grades Pre-K thru 5.

The bond project would also call for several upgrades at the high school including; the expansion of the Career and Technical Education building and CTE renovations, plus upgrades to the field house locker rooms, the cafeteria, and a band marching pad.

The proposal also would fund district-wide accessibility and security improvements, and fiber internet enhancements.

Taxpayers would see an estimated tax rate increase of 24.8 cents per $100 valuation.

Brenham ISD last passed a bond in 2012 for $25.9 million to build Alton Elementary School and renovate the middle school.

  1. You know, I’d like a new house. I’ d like a new car, I’d like to take a nice vacation…but can’t do that…got to fund massive building fund for highly inefficient, terribly effective education program.

    Vote no!!!

  2. Please no more taxes. We are drowning in property taxes. Every year it is a new reason to raise the taxes or the value of our homes. This is not sustainable. My home is so overvalued that I would be lucky to sell it for half of what it is valued at. Please, no more taxes. #Boston Tea Party.
