BRENHAM MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ‘BEST PLACE TO BE’ ESSAY CONTEST
Sixteen 5th grade Gateway students at Brenham Middle School recently competed in an essay hosted by the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum Education Department.
The “Best Place to Be” essay contest was put on for students in grades 4-12, who were tasked with authoring an original literary nonfiction essay about their favorite place and the impact it makes on them.
Students researched, analyzed and used critical thinking processes, and also conducted factual research and interviews while considering aspects and issues of their best place.
Students who placed first received a trophy and $50. Honorable mention through second place received a trophy. All students received a certificate.
