THREE SUFFER MINOR INJURIES AFTER CRASH NEAR GAY HILL

  

Update @ 9:35 a.m.: Three people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning near Gay Hill.

First responders were called out just before 11 a.m. to a reported crash with entrapment at Highway 36 North and Christmas Road.  Units arrived and found two vehicles with heavy damage and one person trapped inside one of the vehicles.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a 2004 Mitsubishi SUV was driving southbound on Highway 36 when it failed to yield the right of way turning left onto Christmas Road, striking a northbound 2019 Honda passenger car.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 64-year-old Diane Villarreal of Brenham, along with the driver of the Honda, 19-year-old Ashanti Jones of Florida, and a passenger in the Honda, 21-year-old Marlon Matthews of Florida, were all transported via ambulance to Baylor Scott & White in Brenham.

Just before 11 a.m., Brenham and Gay Hill firefighters were dispatched to Highway 36 North and Christmas Road for a reported crash with entrapment.  Units arrived and found two vehicles with heavy damage and one person trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The Brenham Fire Department used extrication equipment to remove the driver’s door and assisted Washington County EMS in removing one patient.  The Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department assisted with traffic control.  The southbound lanes of Highway 36 were closed for about 15 minutes.

No information on patient condition was available.
