ARREST MADE IN CONNECTION WITH NAVASOTA SHOOTING INCIDENT

Navasota Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last Thursday during the early morning hours.
Police were dispatched at 12:30am to respond to reports of shots being fired at North La Salle Street and Northside Street.
Officers arrived and found evidence that a shooting had indeed occurred.
Around 3am, Investigators located a vehicle matching the description given to them by witnesses. The vehicle was found to have damage from possible gun shots.
Officers executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Catherine Street. Once inside, they were able to seize over 11 ounces of marijuana and several firearms.
21-year-old Tony Mallard of Navasota was charged with Possession of Marijuana greater than four ounces but less than five pounds, which is a state jail felony, and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, both are second degree felonies.
KWHI News asked Interim Navasota Police Chief Mike Mize if this incident, and the other shooting incident that occurred last Tuesday, July 19, on Ella Street that left two people hospitalized were connected.
Mize said that so far, they have not been able to establish a connection.
